Question 1

Will this app completely stop content copying?

Accepted Answer

The app significantly reduces content theft by disabling right-click, keyboard shortcuts, and inspection tools, making it difficult to copy or extract store content.

Question 2

Can customers still browse normally?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the app only blocks unauthorized copying and spying actions while allowing customers to browse, shop, and interact with your store normally.

Question 3

Can I block specific countries or IP addresses?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can block unwanted countries and suspicious IP addresses to prevent fraud attempts, spam traffic, and unauthorized store monitoring.

Question 4

Does this app affect store performance?

Accepted Answer

No, the app is lightweight and optimized to run smoothly without slowing store loading speed or affecting customer browsing experience.

Question 5

Can I detect and block VPN or proxy visitors?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Pro and Legend plans include VPN, proxy, and Tor detection so you can block or flag visitors trying to mask their real location or identity.

Question 6

Will suspicious orders be cancelled automatically?

Accepted Answer

Yes, higher plans support auto-cancelling high-risk orders based on your fraud rules, helping reduce chargebacks before they happen.

Question 7

I'm getting lots of bots. I've blocked a country, but I still see sessions from it — why?

Accepted Answer

If you're still seeing sessions from bots, blocked countries, or other blocked traffic in Shopify Analytics, this can happen because of the way Shopify records sessions. The process works like this: Customer/bot visits your store — the visitor first loads your Shopify storefront.. Shopify records the session — at this stage, Shopify may already record the visit as a session in your Shopify Analytics.. Our app is triggered after the initial store load — once the storefront has loaded, our app checks the visitor against your blocking rules (country, bot, IP, VPN, etc.).. The visitor is then blocked — if the visitor matches one of your blocking rules, our app blocks them from continuing to access your store. Because Shopify can record the session before our app has a chance to block the visitor, you may still see these sessions in Shopify Analytics even though the visitor was successfully blocked. You can review the overall traffic trend in Shopify Admin → Analytics → Reports → Sessions over time. If the same bots or blocked visitors are no longer able to access your store, you should see this type of traffic decrease over time. Seeing a session in Shopify Analytics does not necessarily mean the visitor was allowed through. In many cases, the session was recorded before our blocking rule was applied.

Question 8

Does blocking anything harm my store's SEO?

Accepted Answer

No — blocking bots, IPs, countries, or VPNs will not hurt your SEO. Google, Bing, and other search/AI crawlers are automatically detected and verified (not just by their name, but cryptographically via DNS/IP checks), so they're never blocked, rate-limited, or shown different content. Only suspicious traffic is affected — real crawlers always get full access.

Question 9

What is Checkout Abuse Protection, and how is it different from the Bot Blocker?

Accepted Answer

The Bot Blocker protects your storefront pages. It detects automated visitors (scrapers, headless browsers, fake traffic) and stops them from browsing and copying your store. Checkout Abuse Protection protects your checkout. It watches for behaviour that real shoppers don't show, such as: The same visitor or IP starting many checkouts in a short time.. One checkout using several different email addresses.. Repeated declined payments (card testing).. Checkouts from VPNs, proxies or datacenter servers. Each checkout gets a risk score from 0 to 100, and you can see every checkout, with the reason it was flagged, on the Activity page. There are two modes: Monitor (default): nothing is blocked. The app only scores and shows you suspicious checkouts, so you can see what's happening on your store first.. Protect: checkouts above your chosen risk level (70 or higher, or 90 or higher for high risk only) are blocked at checkout for a set time (24 hours by default). The buyer sees your custom message. In both modes you can block or allow a buyer manually from the Activity page.

Question 10

Will real customers ever be blocked at checkout?

Accepted Answer

The protection is built so real customers aren't blocked: Returning customers are trusted. Logged-in customers with at least one previous order are never blocked by Checkout Abuse Protection. You can change the required number of orders in settings.. Blocking is only active in Protect mode, and only above the risk level you choose. In Monitor mode nothing is ever blocked.. Blocks are temporary (24 hours by default), not permanent.. You can allowlist anyone by email, IP address or visitor, and they'll never be blocked again.. You stay in control: if a customer contacts you, find their checkout on the Activity page and click Allow. Tip: start in Monitor mode for a few days and check the Activity page. Once you're happy with what's being flagged, switch to Protect.

Question 11

What is card testing, and how does the app stop it?

Accepted Answer

Card testing is when fraudsters use your checkout to check whether stolen credit card numbers work. They make many small payment attempts, often with different cards, one after another. Even when they fail, they can: Raise your payment provider's fraud flags and fees.. Put your payment account at risk of being reviewed or suspended.. Fill your store with abandoned checkouts. The app counts declined payments for each checkout and each email. When a buyer reaches the limit (3 declined payments within 1 hour by default), that email is blocked from checking out, so the attack stops. Repeated declines also raise the checkout's risk score. You can change both the number of attempts allowed and the time window in settings.

Question 12

How does Fraud Order Analysis work? Does it cancel or change my orders?

Accepted Answer

Every new order is automatically checked and given a fraud score from 0 to 100 with a Low, Medium or High risk level. The score combines: VPN, proxy or datacenter IP: whether the buyer was hiding their real location.. Email checks: disposable or suspicious email addresses.. Address checks: for example, the billing country not matching the buyer's location.. Velocity: several orders in a short time from the same buyer, IP or details.. Shopify's own fraud analysis, included in the score. You can see the score and the exact reasons for every order in the app. Your orders are never cancelled or refunded automatically. You decide what happens. Two optional settings help you act faster: Auto-tag orders: adds a risk tag and note to the order in Shopify, so you can filter, review or use it in Shopify Flow.. Auto-hold High risk orders: puts the order's fulfillment on hold, so it isn't shipped before you review it. Release the hold when you're satisfied. Only orders placed after you turn the feature on are analysed.

Question 13

Will the app block Google, Facebook or other good bots and services?

Accepted Answer

No. The app already recognises the main search engines and platforms and doesn't block them: Search engine crawlers such as Googlebot and Bingbot are always allowed, so your SEO is safe.. Trusted platform networks (Meta/Facebook, Apple, X/Twitter, LinkedIn and Yandex) are always allowed. This means ad reviews and link previews keep working.. Google's main network is never hard-blocked. Because anyone can rent servers on Google Cloud, that cloud traffic is still checked for bot behaviour. Some tools, like testing tools, apps or monitoring services, visit your store from a different network, such as a cloud server. Those visits can look like bot traffic. To allow such a service: Open Bot Analytics and find the blocked entry.. Copy the ASN (network number) shown for it, for example AS62679.. Add it in ASN Blocker → Always allow. From then on, visits from that network are always allowed. Only allow networks you trust. Avoid allowing general cloud networks such as Google Cloud, AWS or Azure, because many bad bots run on them.
